The EGF has posted an interesting summary of research carried out by a team from China and Minnesota.

[activated] areas included the parts of the brain associated with concentration and attention, spatial perception, image manipulation, problem solving and memory processes (working memory storage and episodic memory retrieval)

2017 Congress location overturned by majority vote

As posted by the EGF, the next european go congress will be in Oberhof, Germany

The heated discussion on previous articles, and on the EGF L19 forum, suggests that there were going to be unhappy people whichever way this vote went, so hopefully everyone will stay calm at this outcome.

**update**
The EGF president, Martin Stiassny, posted an open letter apologising and clarifying the situation. Reaction has been muted.

2017 Top 8 (and AGM)

The Irish Top 8 Tournament will be held on the weekend of January 28-29th at the Ballsbridge Hotel, Pembroke Road, Dublin 4.

The Irish Go Association’s AGM will take place on the Saturday January at 5pm after the last round of the Top 8 tournament.

Cork Go Tournament 2016

This year saw a relatively modest turnout, tying with 2015 as the smallest to date (11 players total). With no bar in place and such a small field, several of the later games involved 9-stone handicaps. Let’s just say some of the DDK players had an interesting sunday!
