Looking back… March

2016 Confucius Cup
Rory has posted a comprehensive report covering the tournament, including results, photos, and a selection of game records – http://www.irish-go.org/2016-irish-confucius-cup-report/

The weekly Adventuring Party podcast featured Cian as their special guest in the latest episode (Per, March 2016). His lucid representation of our favourite game can be found on the Adventuring Party’s feed – https://itunes.apple.com/ie/podcast/per-march-2016-go-irish-go/id304124403?i=365840683&mt=2

Ireland drew 2-2 with South Africa in round 8 of the 2015/2016 Pandanet Go Euro Team Championship – http://pandanet-igs.com/communities/euroteamchamps/rounds/303#4
It seems round 6 also just finished. A 2-2 draw vs Kazakhstan – http://pandanet-igs.com/communities/euroteamchamps/rounds/301#3 – Hmm, I see a pattern emerging…

Skynet drew a step closer – AlphaGo won 4 of its 5 games against Lee Sedol

On a tangentially random note, the 4th Isle of Skye Tournament was held the first weekend of March – http://www.britgo.org/tournaments/skye
This originally drew my attention when I heard coverage of the first one – what sounded like Irish caught my ear (turned out to be Scottish Gaelic). Also, as it is held every second year, I only fail to attend this one half as often as the Confucius Cup…

Continued thanks to all my informants, without whom this operation would not be nearly as productive.
